Day 25... Sunday ... Funday!

Rushing for church every Sunday morning has become more of the norm.. but now trying to incorporate healthy eating has been sometimes a struggle. I thought I did rather well this Sunday.. my husband bought some grapes from the gas station for me for breakfast. So I had water, grapes and I grabbed a cup of non-fat yogurt (2 pts) for breakfast.

For lunch we decided to have a healthy dinner over my in laws. We bought rotisserie chicken and we made green beans and mashed potatoes. I also made a big salad and bought a small bottle of fat free Italian dressing.  I had 3 pieces of chicken with the skin removed, breast, thigh and drumstick (7 pts). I had a serving of green beans (2 pts) and a serving of mashed potatoes (3 pts). I made a separate Huge salad.. but I ate that last and didn't eat all of it. For the dressing the point value was 1 point.  For dessert I bought grapes and strawberries. My husband picked up some chocolate dip for the strawberries, I passed on the chocolate.

They made cookies cookies and more cookies.. I just didn't want one bad enough to count points. I was still pretty satisfied from the meal. Later when we made it home, I had 2 grilled cheese sandwiches (7 pts) and some baked lays (3 pts) with a strawberry cupcake (5 pts). Ended the night pretty well.

Day 24.. Today we celebrate!

Since my baby was sick we decided to have his birthday celebration today. I planned to go to Applebees because I know I could control better what I ate.

For breakfast, I made cheese eggs 5 points, 2 slices of toast 2 points, I used my reduced sugar jelly 1 point and some turkey bacon, 4 slices for 2 points.

Ok I know that this is a very flexible diet and at times I feel guilty for writing some of the stuff that I write about I eat. For lunch, I had 2 sandwiches.. but I was totally within my points. I had 1 pb&j for 6 points and 1 grilled cheese for 3 points.. it's crazy right.. 2 sandwiches for 9 points. I passed on chips because of that.

So now it's dinner time.. at Applebees I ordered the Asiago Peppercorn Steak off of the 550 calorie menu. It comes with a 7oz sirloin but I upgraded to the 9oz cause I was hungry. I added the additional points and the total meal was 11 points. I also had a salad with the fat free Italian 1 point.

We went to McDonald's for dessert and I had my favorite ice cream and this time I had an apple pie for 11 points total.  Good end to the night.

Day 23... Today is my son's 3rd birthday!

As we know my son is sick so our plans for today didn't happen. We had planned to make cupcakes and take them to daycare for all of his friends, I will just have to do it next week.

I started this morning scrambling eggs for me and the hubby. I used 2% cheese, so in total eggs were 8 points and soo good! I had 2 slices of toast with butter spray for 2 points. I also had a banana. Very filling breakfast for 10 points total.

I have to tell you all about lunch time.. I was headed to this focus group to get get PAID baby!! lol anyway I was headed to this building and I had no idea how to find it.. I ended up parking about 2 blocks away from where I was supposed to go.. and guess what when I found the building it was up a hill.. so guess what I did.. counted those as activity points! HAHAH.. when I got there I was sweating like I was a chick on Maury checking the 10th dude for a paternity test! hahaha anyway.. so I got there and I was winded.. I need to exercise now sooner than later.

They had lunch at the focus group, I choose a vegetarian wrap with baked Sour Cream and Onion Lays a water and they had a cookie in there. The cookie didn't look point worthy so I passed on it, I figured one of my kids would like it. The wrap was ok.. I ended up eating the veggies out of it. I counted that whole meal as 4 points. When I got home I ate a PB&J for 6 points.  I later snacked on a package of  100 calorie cheese and peanut butter crackers 3 points.

Dinner was my son's choice for his birthday .. he wanted pancakes.. of course right.. so we went to Ihop.. I LOVE THAT PLACE!!

I didn't want any of their healthy meals so I selected grilled chicken, 2 breast for 6 points. I said of broccoli 0 points and buttered corn 3 points. I had a bite of the garlic bread, I counted that as 2 points because it was buttery good!! To top it off I had 1 pancake 3 points and a small amount of strawberry syrup. I counted the syrup as 3 points based off of their nutrition information.

When I got home I had a strawberry cupcake 5 points to end the night.

Day 22... My baby is sick

This morning I decided that I wanted to give this protein powder another shot.. .I can't get it to dissolve so that I can swallow it without chewing.. I'm not giving up yet! I had my oatmeal (4 pts) and half a scoop of powder (1 pt)

For lunch we decided to try a buffet.. a Chinese food buffet. I felt I could do this.. I had a portion of black pepper pork and onions, a portion of chicken and broccoli (4 pts) 1 cup of egg drop soup (1 pt) I decided to have a crab Rangoon... I'm not denying myself.. I had 1 (5 pts) and 1 spring roll instead of an egg roll. I'm not sure if I found the right point value so I counted it as 5 points. I had chicken on a stick, so I counted 3 points for a chicken kabob. I also had a steamed dumpling (1 pt). I finished lunch with a serving of pineapple from the salad bar. I was pretty excited that I didn't over do it... I SURVIVED A BUFFET!!

I was pretty satisfied from lunch so I didn't snack, but I did have a lot of water today. I go back and forth with having water but I can say my diet soda intake has decreased drastically!!! Another reason for no snack is because we sat at the clinic in Walgreen's for about 2 hrs, my son wasn't feeling well. Come to find out he has strep throat and a ear infection.. my poor baby. I hate it that he's sick but this is the only time I get to snuggle with him. Tomorrow is his 3rd birthday.. I hope he feels better so he can enjoy it.

For dinner I made chicken Parmesan with Shake and Bake (1 pt). I used a heart smart prego spaghetti sauce (2 pts) chicken breast, it was bigger so I counted it as 4 oz (4 pts). I used the ronzoni smart taste angel hair pasta (5 pts) and 2% mozzarella cheese ( 1 pt) I was a really good dinner and total 12 points.

I bought the chocolate smoothie mix from Weight Watchers because it was on sale.. I figured a good time to try it. I was looking through the recipe booklet that came with it and there was one for a chocolate shake. I had the low fat milk but not the frozen yogurt.. My husband heard me mention it so he picked some up at the store.. he's so sweet! I ended up having a chocolate shake for dinner (6 pts) .. it was soo good!

Day 21 .. weigh day!

This morning I was determined to use the protein powder and have it taste somewhat decent. OMG.. it looked like vomit floating on the top of my coffee cup. I cried to a friend of mine and she brought me some of hers that tasted great! Thanks girly! I didn't use as much so it was even a 0 point value. I also had my packet of oatmeal. (4 pts) I didn't want to go overboard today so I could get full credit for my weight loss.

For lunch we went for sushi.. I had egg drop soup with very few crispy noodles and a California roll. Now my friend had a Crazy Monkey roll which is fried.. I had 1 piece and I counted that as 2. She also gave me a small amount of fried rice.. counted that as 1. My egg drop soup was 1 pt and my California roll was 8 pts. I drank plenty of water to keep flushing. I decided not to have a sack today so I would have a very accurate weigh in.

I got to weight watchers and I got the products I was ordered to buy .. lol friends love the weight watcher snacks but not on the program.. they are so crazy! ok.. so I got on the scale.. down 1.8lbs.. I am at 9.8lbs .2lbs away from my first 10 lbs lost. I hope to get in more physical activity this week so that number will increase.

I had a tiny treat for myself after I left.. I cheeseburger from McArches.. It taste like dirt (not really but I have to say that to keep sanity) it was 8 pts. When I got home I had a piece of toast with butter spray 0 pts and reduced sugar jelly (1 pt).

For dinner I decided to make a Fettuccine Alfredo recipe from weight watchers.. it was CRAP!!! Well the taste was good but the sauce was watery.. I was very upset. My husband brought me a WW fudge bar and painted my toes to make me feel better.. he's a good guy!

Day 20.. .yep 20 days in!

Good morning all... today I'm starting to use protein powder in my coffee in the morning. I don't think I mixed it right.. It was horribly chalky and too many particles floating, I still sucked it down. So I had 1 scoop (2 pts) of protein powder in my coffee. 1 package of oatmeal (4 pts) and a banana (0 pts) for breakfast.  Not a bad start to the day right!

For lunch we decided to eat Jason's Deli. I scoured the menu to find something that I would enjoy. I found a turkey wrap that had sprouts and guacamole (10 pts)... I was so excited. With that  I had fruit on the side with water to drink to wash it all down. Again I felt I was making great choices.

When I got home I made a half pb&j (6 pts) I just used one slice of bread so I could save some points. For dinner I was going to make a chicken Alfredo recipe that I found online but we ran out of time to make sure we werent' eating too late. We went to KFC for dinner and I had 1 serving of mashed potatoes with gravy (3 pts) , 1 serving of green beans (0 pts) and 3 pieces of chicken. I had 1 leg and I left the skin on (3 pts) 1 breast without skin (3 pts) and 1 wing without skin (1 pt) Do you know how hard it is to not eat skin on KFC!!! I had a bigger goal so I felt great for pulling the skin off. The biscuit from KFC is 5 points so I decided that if  I was going to have those points I would have a strawberry cupcake ( 5 pts). Great end to the night, tomorrow is weigh day I hope that the scale goes down this week.. Wish me luck!

Day 19... Start of a new work week

This morning started off a little different. We are having car issues so we are down to one. I had to work from home in the morning to wait for my husband to wake up. He worked over night, so I waited so that  we could drive in to the office together.

For breakfast I had 2 cups of fruit loops cereal (6 pts) and 3/4th cup of 2% milk (2 pts). I was pretty satisfied after that, not stuffed but I felt I had enough.

Oh I forgot to mention, the night before when we had Chinese, I had some left over that I planned to take for lunch but I left it out all night.. I was really upset with myself about that. So for lunch I had a salad with grilled chicken and light Italian dressing and a apple. Total point value of my lunch was 4 pts. However the red onions did an number on my breath! For a dessert I had a jello chocolate pudding cup (3 pts).

Ok so here is a bit of a confession.. I bought a box of strawberry cupcakes because I felt like I could control my urges to eat the whole box. 1 cupcake is 5 pts and the first night I had them I had 2. Now yes I had enough points to cover what I ate but I kinda felt like it was empty calories. Now that doesn't mean that they weren't good! I brought one to work to have as a snack.. and I had it during my midday snack. It taste great but I didn't feel like it provided energy or anything that I could use as fuel.. I have decided to lay off the rest of those cupcakes!

On the way home from work I had a 2 pt dark chocolate WW bar, to tide me over until dinner. I had planned to make Hamburger Helper for dinner.. Nice meal with low points. I browned the meat and put on broccoli as a side. Well.. I was just about to put the mix in when I realized I didn't have enough milk! So I had to think quick.. I could still make it with less milk.. but it might not taste as good. I looked through my cabinets and found taco shells. Voila! We're having tacos! I had 2 boxes of shells, a whole grain shell by Ortega (3 pts for 2 shells) and some thin corn shells by La Tiara (1 pt per shell). I had some 2% mild cheddar (2 pts for 1/4th cup), some lettuce that I shredded and a tomato. We still had  healthy dinner after all. I had 2 Ortega shells and 1 La Tiara shell then I made a little salad without the shells. After I figured everything I had about 13 points, most of that was for the ground beef!

After dinner we had dessert, I had a WW Giant Fudge Bar (3 pts) those used to be 1 point on the old plan and 2 thin mint cookies (2 pts) I was a pretty good day!

Day 18... Sunday Sunday...

I woke up this morning thinking we were going to be snowed in but God had a different plan.. He said... YOU'RE TAKING YOUR BEHIND TO CHURCH! I needed it too.. I felt the message really spoke to me, I just still trying to shake a personal situation that I feel like is blocking my blessings.

I started the morning with 3 hard boiled eggs and a cup of water. After the night before I felt I needed to take it easy. After church we went to Jack Stack and we had a barbequed chicken, broccoli and sliced turkey and ham. They put some type of oil on the broccoli so I counted a point value of 2. For the chicken, I removed the skin but I did have barbeque sauce. I had half a chicken breast (1 pt) 1 chicken leg (1 pt) I ate the toast that came with it (2 pts) I had half a chicken wing with the skin removed (1 pt) 2 slices of turkey (1 pt) and 1 slice of ham (2 pts) I had about 4 tbsp of bbq sauce (3 pts). I had iced tea with Splenda to drink. It was a pretty satisfying lunch.

After we left everyone had a sweet tooth. We went to McDonald's and they ordered cookies and sundaes but I knew that I only wanted a vanilla cone (4 pts). I was very proud of myself for not giving in to temptation. There were plenty of cookies but again the night before since I had that wonderful dessert I knew that I could pass on that.

We had Chinese for dinner.. it's always a safe bet, tons of veggies and lean meat. I had about 1 1/2 cups of chicken and mixed veggies (5 pts) and 1 cup of rice (5 pts). I had a 2 cups of egg drop soup (2 pts) and I use those crispy fried noodles (1 pt). 

I decided that I had a pretty good day and I had enough points left so I had strawberry cupcakes (11 pts). I had 7 points left for the day. Not a bad day!

Day 17... NO KIDS!!!

I woke up this morning and I was well rested.. no kids to wake me up at the crack of dawn! I woke up and was actually able to relax in the bed with my husband. We went to breakfast and I was determined that I was going to have a waffle. I'm very excited to talk about my breakfast and you'll see why. For breakfast I choose 2 eggs (4 pts) instead of potatoes I had fruit (0 pts) I had a side of turkey (2 pts).. I know it was odd to see that on the menu. I had 2 cups of coffee with creamer (2 pts) I biscuit, I didn't want the whole thing just a taste so I counted 1/4 piece of biscuit (1 pt) and a WAFFLE!!! So the whole waffle was 12 pts but I decided I only wanted to eat half of it. So I ate that half and I was satisfied so I counted 6 pts. I've learned that sometimes I eat because it's there and not because I'm hungry. So I decided to ruin the other half of the waffle by coating it with hot sauce! It did the trick. I've decided to keep myself from overeating I  will just destroy food until that signal clicks in my head. Oh I also had compote (2 pts)

I knew that I was going to have to have a light lunch because of my breakfast. I thought ok I'll have a salad... well it didn't work that way. I spent a lot of the day working on the report that I needed to get done on Friday and I had get ready to go to a movie with my husband. I grabbed an apple and a banana, I knew my husband would have popcorn at the theater so I counted on a couple of bites.  I prob had about a cup of popcorn.. he smothers it in butter and salt and I'm not a fan of that.. never have been. I counted 1 1/2 cups just to make sure I got more of an accurate point count. It figured it out to be about 3 pts and I had a diet coke.

Then we went to dinner... we decided to go to a really nice restaurant for dinner. We dressed up and I was so excited but I kept in mind that even thought we were going out to have a nice time didn't mean I needed to completely lose control. On the way to the restaurant we ran into comedian Rickey Smiley, he was in town for a show, he seemed like a nice guy. For dinner I had so many choices but I decided to have the Alaskan King Crab Legs (10 pts) and I had some butter.. again not sure what I had so I counted roughly 1/4th cup and that was 12 pts... DAAANNNNGGG I know right... I also had green beans but they were cooked with bacon so I counted 2 pts for that. I also counted the one roll I had (4 pts).

DESSERT!!! We decided to treat ourselves to dessert... we had.. BANANA'S FOSTER!! OMG... it was the most amazing dessert.. it might be my new favorite. Now the worst part... it was 18 pts! I actually dipped in to my weekly points after that but it was worth it. That's what they're there for right! I really enjoyed the evening with my husband and a wonderful dinner!

Day 16... the day from H-E Double Hockey Sticks!

Today started off I thought to be a good day.. I got so busy in the morning that I wasn't able to eat breakfast... I had a banana. I planned to have oatmeal but that didn't happen. I didn't even have coffee!

It all started going downhill. I planned a baby shower for a friend today and I had to do some shopping. I was running around at the last min like a lunatic! We get to the restaurant and they have nothing that's really "diet friendly". So I decided to have a crispy chicken salad with ranch. I figured I'd be safe because I didn't have points for breakfast. I ordered a half salad and when I figured the points when I was able to see the nutrition on their website it was roughly 14 pts.

Once we got back to the office, more chaos. I had meetings and tried to get my report done for the day. Then I got slapped with the baby shower cake. I remember the last time I was around cake and I passed my meeting leader explained that I shouldn't avoid it at all because I would binge later but to eat a small amount. I had a small piece of cake but I decided to find it on e-tools and I counted 8 pts for it.

After I left work, I had to rush to get my children to their grandmother. It was more chaos... I was ready to have a stiff drink after all of the stress.. btw.. did I mention that I had left my phone at home that day! So I get the kids dropped off and I decide to have a pretty well balanced dinner since I had cake earlier in the day. I had a chicken pita with tzatziki sauce (9 pts) and a Greek salad (10 pts). I spent the night alone, kids away for the weekend and my husband gone for a guys night... pretty quiet night!

Day 15... Snow Day!

Hello... today started out ok. I wanted to make sure I took the advice of my meeting leader and applied it, to eat more points. So for breakfast I had 2 eggs (4 pts) 2 slices of toast with butter spray (4 pts) 4 slices of turkey bacon (2 pts) and a cup of yogurt (2 pts). I was very satisfied and I didn't feel guilty for eating that. I was like ok I can actually do this.

I ate breakfast pretty late so I didn't eat a snack before lunch. For lunch I had the spaghetti I made the night before (11 pts) and a salad with low fat Italian dressing (1 pt for 2 tbsp). Again it was very fulfilling.

Since I was stuck at home I decided to shovel the driveway.. I thought 20 mins tops and I'll be back inside getting warm. I didn't to come inside until an hour later. The amount of snow out there was insane, good thing I counted 45 mins of snow shoveling and I got 7 activity points. See Bobby... I got some exercise in :)

I snacked on a banana and some strawberries after I came inside (0 pts) I love being able to eat all the fruit I want!

For dinner I made Cheesy Nacho Hamburger Helper. I measured 1 1/2 cups (13 pts) green beans (0 pts) and 1 slice of bread (2 pts). For 1 cup of that hamburger helper it's 9 pts but I had some to spare.

This is what I really want to talk about.. I had an awesome dessert!!! I had 1/2 cup of chocolate chip ice cream (4 pts) and a Betty Crocker Warm Delights Molten Chocolate cake (4 pts). I savored every bite! I love the fact that I didn't deny myself a treat, I feel like I've done very well and I can have my dessert... and eat it too!

Day 14.. Weigh Day

Today a pretty good day. I was excited to weigh in today because I've had my daily love affair with Lucifer so I felt I was going to do pretty well at Weight Watchers. I decided I needed to eat a larger breakfast. I had 4 strips of turkey bacon (2 pts) low fat yogurt (4 pts) instead of fat free. That was suggested by my meeting leader. I also had my coffee with my fat free creamer. I weighed in early because we were expecting snow and I didn't want to try to get caught in a storm and trying to hop on a scale.

I jumped on the scale after stripping down as much as I could.. I was showing bra straps under a tank top and was very nervous.. lol DOWN 3.8lbs!!!! That's 8lbs in 2 weeks, very excited!  I now weigh 342.2lbs A friend went with me, but she's not on the plan but she loves the snacks. She bought a couple so I munched on the Chocolate Pretzel thing on the way back.. YUMMY!! I had 2 of those for  pts. When I got back to the office I had a turkey sandwich for lunch. I wanted to make sure I was eating my points so I added bacon and 1 tbsp of mayo for a total of 10 pts. I also had a bag of baked ruffles (3 pts).

The storm was coming in and we needed to leave the office, I didn't have  chance to snack. I was starving so when I got to my children, my daughter had some Doritos and I ate 2. I plugged that in to e-tools and it was 1 pt.. I'll take it.. lol   When I got home I had a jello pudding cup (3 pts).

For dinner I made spaghetti with my Ronzoni Smart Taste Noodles. After I put that in the recipe builder it came out to 11 pts a serving. I made sure to cut up a lot of chunky veggies as fillers. We also had broccoli as a side.  I still had points left so I treated myself to dessert of 4 Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies (4 pts) and 2 Girl Scout Peanut Butter Patties (4 pts) I ended the day with 4 pts. That's the most points I've had since I've been on this plan and I didn't feel like I overdid it.. I guess it won't be too bad eating more of my daily points after all.

Day 13... Inspiration

Another day on this journey and everything is moving right along. Again so busy this morning all I had was coffee... I don't like not being able to grab something quick but I'm not going to make a habit of this. 

The reason I call this day inspiration is because today a friend of mine who's been reading my blog joined WW... I was so excited for her to join me on my journey while creating her own! I went to a meeting with her and introduced her to my leader. While talking to my leader I explained to her that I was having issues with trying to eat all of my daily points, that my average was 35 pts a day so I was leaving 20 left over. She informed me that I needed to eat more.. .this is a struggle for me.. it's not like I'm not eating I just eating smaller portions and lower point foods. My thought process was to eat lower points so when I lost one it wouldn't be a huge shock to me. I took what she said and figured I needed to apply it.

After we left the meeting I bought some WW snack bars.. I had 2 (4 pts) I figured I would treat myself. I came back to the office and had lunch. I packed it the night before, I sauteed chicken thighs and made a cheddar and broccoli pasta. Here is the surprising part.. I thought the thighs were 3 pts a piece but for a boneless and skinless chicken thigh it's only 2 pts. So for lunch I had a total of 13 points including the pasta.

When I got home from work I had half a box of raisins (2 pts)... I was shocked to see that a whole box is 4 pts, I gave the rest to the kids. For dinner I made grilled chicken legs, teriyaki noodles and greens. I had 3 legs (4 pts) with the skin removed, 1/2 cup of the noodles (3 pts) greens (0 pts). Now this is the bad part.. I ate 4 chocolate covered macadamia nuts (6 pts) and 3 peanut butter patty girl scout cookies (5 pts). I looked at my tracker and realized that I had 30 pts left for the day.. but I should not have filled those points with bad choices.. I mean I didn't overindulge ... well I guess it wasn't that bad.

The meeting really helped me see things differently about this program.. and now I understand why they want you to use your weekly points.. they don't want you to feel deprived. So the next birthday party I attend.. I'M EATING A PIECE OF CAKE!!!

Day 12... Another Monday

Hello All! I'm still in great spirits.. I'm trying not to get on my scale everyday at home.. I have nicknamed it... Lucifer... it likes to play Jedi mind games on me but yet in still I come back daily for my turn on the wheel of weight!

This morning I had my kashi cereal and coffee (5 pts) ... breakfast of champions! I didn't really have a desire to snack so I skipped that for the morning. For lunch we went to Mr. Goodcents and I had a penny club with cheese (12 pts) and a bag of baked sour cream chips (4 pts) I washed that down with water. 

I have to tell you all about my interesting afternoon. Again, I didn't have a snack but a co-worker offered me some of his coffee that he brews. I accepted his offer and used my fat free creamer (1 pt) I felt like I was going a mile a min and having an out of body experience! I've been drugged!!! hahaha... I think it was a very potent brew but caffeine never affects me like that.

When I get home I'm pretty hungry so I decide to snack on a small PB&J I had one slice of bread. One side had 1 tbsp of peanut butter of the other 1 tbsp of reduced sugar jelly (5 pt) not a bad snack killed those hunger pains!

I run to the store after work and I'm there longer than I anticipate so we decide to order dinner out so the kids aren't eating too late. I pulled the Applebee's menu and start figuring points. I have it in my mind that I'm going to get one of the under 550 calorie meals because I know they are point friendly. My husband said, well how much would it be for a steak? For the 9oz sirloin it was only 8 pts... hey... he might be on to something here. He said, ok how much for fried red potatoes.. I'm expecting a large point value... 4 pts!!! I guess I'm having steak and potatoes for dinner.. hahaha with a side of broccoli of course :) I was very excited to eat something besides chicken and I love the steaks from Applebee's.. very fancy I know...LOL

For dessert we had a jello pudding cup.. nice chocolate fix at the end of the day!

Day 11

I'm so impressed with myself that I was able to type day 11 in the title.. I know you're probably like so what.. but guess what... that's 11 days and I have NOT CHEATED!!  This morning started with 3 hard boiled eggs (6 pts)  and a fat free cappuccino (2 pts) on the way to church.  For lunch we decided to go to Longhorn Steakhouse... SO let me tell you how much fun that was. Their nutritional information does not provide protein or fiber so anything you eat is a true guess. I tried to play it safe. A salad came with my food and I was advised not to order the fat free Ranch because it tastes like glue, I didn't ask the waitress how she knew what glue taste like, I now had a vision she was the kid in school who ate the paste and I could never look at her without giggling to myself. So I decided to order Italian, I thought it would be safe. For my entree I ordered grilled chicken tenders and seasonal veggies. I pulled the nutritional info and the Italian dressing has 25 grams of fat!!! REALLY!!! Thank goodness she put it on the side so I was able to dip my salad instead of pouring all at once. I saved a ton of points! When my lunch arrived they put a butter sauce over the veggies... SIGH... now my veggies have a point value. I decided to take the hit, I had enough points to spare. Oh I also had one half of one slice of the bread the serve... I got a taste but I didn't feel like I needed more than that.  I ate my lunch and it was pretty good and I felt good about my choice. When we left we went to McDonald's to get my favorite low fat ice cream cone (4 pts).

For dinner we had Chinese, some good ole chicken and broccoli with steamed rice. A good amount of food for not a lot of points... For dessert.. I split a package of Hostess cupcakes with my hubby.. one cupcake was 5 points and it was GOOD!!!

Well tomorrow is Monday.. off to a new week.

Day 10... I'm vey close to 2 weeks!

So today is Saturday and it's always hard to think about what to eat with my family. This time I decided we would have a complete breakfast and I wasn't afraid to use real points in the morning. I made myself to over hard eggs (4 pts) 2 slices of wheat toast with butter spray (4 pts) 4 slices of Oscar Mayer fully cooked bacon (only 2 pts YAY!!!) and I made hash browns (2 pts) I must say it's interesting having to measure your food. I have to tell you about a find, Smuckers Strawberry Jelly 50% reduced sugar! This jelly is AMAZING.. I was concerned I thought it would be horrible. So here's the deal, it's 1 pt for 1 tbsp just like regular jelly. HOWEVER if you want 2 tbsp... it's still 1 point! So I had jelly on 2 pieces of toast instead of only having it on one. My little exciting moment.. yes this is what my life has come to.. doing a happy dance for lower sugar jelly :)  That kept me pretty full. So for lunch I had my left over chili 1 1/2 cups (9 pts) 10 whole wheat crackers (3 pts) and 1/4 cup of the left over queso (2 pts).. not bad on top of chili.  I had to take my daughter to a birthday party, I thought I was going to leave but when I got there she asked me to stay and I wanted to help out. This was a major temptation... they had a taco bar. I wanted to eat with my husband because I know he's doing this with me so I passed, I figured I could wait for him. The worst part was cake and ice cream time. I was on serving duty, scooping chocolate chip ice cream. I was so good I didn't even lick my finger :) Very proud of myself! The cake looked awesome too and I heard rave reviews but again, I know my goal. I know at some point I can have cake because I don't want to deprive myself but at the moment, I wanted to prove to myself that I was able to just say no ( I think I just quoted a anti-drug slogan). On the way home I picked up Boston Market, you can't go wrong with rotisserie chicken! I choose 3 piece dark with skin removed (5 pts) new potatoes (3 pts) green beans (not sure why these are 2 pts) and 1 piece of cornbread (5 pts). For dessert I had 4 thin mint girl scout cookies. ... I AM GOING TO SUCCEED!!!

Day 9.... and it contines

So today was a very busy day. I started this morning with a 0 pt breakfast... I had a banana and a cup of water as I rushed to my first meeting of the day. I felt pretty good. I didn't feel like I needed a whole lot more, I was satisfied. So for lunch I was going to have a chicken breast sandwich but I remembered that I had a coupon... and for anyone who knows me knows I LOVE coupons!!! Anyway, my coupon was to Chick-fil-a to get a calendar and a free chicken sandwich. So I mapped out a plan, I called to make sure I could still redeem it and to make sure I could get a char-grilled chicken sandwich instead of the fried one. That was 7 pts and I had a bag of baked ruffles (3pts) So not bad a 10 pt lunch and 10 pts for the entire day. For a afternoon snack I had grapes, but I didn't eat a whole pound this time, I didn't want to over do it (Bobby). For dinner, my husband asked for chicken fajitas.  I had to think about how to make this a diet friendly meal. I cut up onions, garlic and green bell pepper to saute.  I cooked 1.5lbs of chicken breast and I found Mission Whole Wheat Low Carb tortilla's (1 pt each) I was so excited! Normally a tortilla is about 3 to 4 pts each.  I made green beans as a side.  I have a very picky family...  I had a nice spread and I was so excited. I ate 3 tortillas and I spooned in 1 tbsp (total of 3 tbsp) of fat free refried beans (1pts) chicken with onions and peppers in each. Oh and I forgot, I made rotel with 2% Velveeta. My husband loves queso so I decided to make a lower fat version, for1/4 cup it's 2 pts. I had my homemade queso and shredded cheese. I measured 1/4th cup of shredded cheese and put it on my plate so I knew exactly how much I could have so I didn't go over board. I didn't use it all but I did have a couple of drops of the queso. I had wedges of lemon and lime to squeeze on the meat as well.. Dinner was AMAZING and I spent a total of 12 points on dinner.  I passed on dessert that night, I felt pretty satisfied. I had 28 points left for the day...

Day 8 ... still going strong

So today started as normal, for breakfast I had Kashi cereal with 1/2 cup 1% milk (4 pts) and coffee with fat free creamer ( 1 pt). I didn't really snack between breakfast and lunch, work kept me pretty busy. For lunch I had  turkey sandwich on wheat with 2% cheese (6 pts) and a bag of baked ruffles (3 pts) and a pudding cup (3 pts). Then I  had to run off to another meeting. During the afternoon I was able to snack on pineapple (0 pts), kept me satisfied until dinner. For dinner I made chili, I used 1 lb of 97% fat free ground beef ad 1 lb 97% fat free ground turkey. When I  put the meats in to the recipe builder on the Weight Watchers website I was surprised to see the turkey had a higher point value than the beef! I used kidney beans and tomatoes and tomato sauce. It was great! total point value 6 pts  cup. I had enough points so I had 2 cups (12 pts). I also used 1/4th cup of 2% shredded cheese (2 pts) and 10 whole wheat cracker (3 pts) and a glass of Crystal Light (0 pts). Dinner was very filling and I decided not to eat anything for dessert so I ended my day with 2 daily points left. I think it was a pretty good day!

Oh and I wanted to note that I haven't had a diet soda for a while now. Just a small victory for me!

Day 7... Weigh day!

So this morning I'm thinking I really need to be mindful of my eating because I have to weigh in today. So for breakfast I have my Kashi cereal (4 pts with1% milk) and coffee (1 pt).  I know that I'm going to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch today with friends so I figured I would be really safe going there. I loaded up my salad with a bunch of veggies = POWER FOODS!! I skipped the pre-made salads because I knew that would only add points and the idea that I don't know exactly what's in it was scary. I top my salad with about 2 tbsp of fat free Italian (1 pt) and I order water to drink. Now the friends I'm with decided to enjoy themselves at the salad bar but I know what my goal is so it doesn't bother me one bit. After I finish my salad, I go to the soup bar to make a wise choice. So they have all of these cream based soups which I know will be loaded with points but I decide to go with about 1/4 cup of chili (2pts) and about the same of chicken noodle. The chili was AMAZING!!!However, I knew that if I over indulged I wouldn't be happy with myself. So the few bites I had were plenty. I did not care for the chicken noodle so I didn't finish it. However, I can NOT go to Sweet Tomatoes and not get a blueberry muffin (4 pts) I had one and I didn't use butter.. that was hard but again I know my goal. I was pretty satisfied with myself, I had used only 11 pts so far for breakfast and lunch.  So I'm thinking about weigh in time.. I really wanna get that first 5lbs award so I'm trying to be mindful of everything I eat today. Not starving myself, but making lighter choices... until... I get my cherries to snack on. Now we know that fruit is 0 pts but I got carried away... I think I ate about 1 lbs of cherries!!! I felt like I had drank a gallon of water. I was kicking myself because I knew this would change the scale. I thought, well maybe since it's a few hrs before I have to weigh in it won't make a difference. So I leave work to go jump on the scale at the meeting. I debated bringing a change of clothes to switch in to before I got on the scale but I decided against it. So I get on the scale..347lbs!!! Ok I'm a tiny bit excited because I've like 4.2lbs however, I know it was probably more because I still felt full from cherries!! LOL So I'm going to celebrate my 4.2lbs, I didn't get my first 5 award but I was really close and that matters to me.

I decided it was time to used the rest of my 44 pts that I had for the day. I felt like I was having a cheat meal but really I was still in my daily points after all that I stuffed in my mouth. We went to Churches Chicken and I decided that I wanted to have chicken with the skin on it. I had 3 pieces, 2 legs and 1 thigh. I pulled the skin off of the thigh (3 pts) and I left it on both legs (6 pts). I had about 1 1/2 servings of mashed potatoes (3 pts) 2 biscuits (13 pts) a half ear of corn with butter spray (2 pts + it's a power food). For dessert I had 2 peanut butter patty girl scout cookies (4 pts) and 2 chocolate cover macadamia nuts (3 pts). So I figured this was a cheat meal but really, I still had 10 pts at the end of the day.. I don't know if I can ever eat 55 pts and feel good about it.

Day 6 ... WOW.. that's all I have to say about that!

So day 6 started with a pretty healthy breakfast. I had 1 cup of Kashi cereal with 1/2 cup of 1% milk (4 pts) and a cup of coffee with 2 tbsp of sugar free cream (1 pt). I didn't have a snack because I was so busy at work. I was invited out to lunch, I tried to figure out what I was going to eat before I got there, we went to Chili's.  I lost track of time and didn't get a chance to plan my meal. So I decided to order one of their guiltless meals, a chicken sandwich on a whole wheat bun with regular mustard instead of honey mustard. It came with a side of steamed veggies,so I asked for broccoli. Well I ate it and was somewhat satisfied.. I also ordered a cup of green chicken Chile soup. It was mostly broth so I counted 1 pt. So when I get back to check the nutritional value of that sandwich... 15 PTS!!! OMG I was so upset! If I wanted to spend 15 pts on a meal I would've like to enjoy it more... so for the rest of the day I decided to take it a little easier.. I mean I still had 34 pts. So I snacked on strawberries (0 pts) and a special K Peach and Mixed Berries cereal bar (2 pts) I didn't really care for those so I gave the rest to a friend. 

So this same friend brought me some chocolate covered macadamia nuts back from Hawaii. I checked the points and for a serving which equals 4 pieces it's 6 pts. Well I didn't want to give in to 4 right away.. so I tried one.. IT WAS YUMMY! So I had one more for a total of 3 pts. Well after that I was so hungry so I grabbed 2 slices of turkey (2 pts)from the fridge while I waited for dinner.

For dinner I made a chicken broccoli noodle side (3 pts for 1/2 cup) with salsa chicken sprinkled with 2%  cheese ( 3 pts per breast) with green beans. For the whole dinner it was 9 pts.  I treated myself with 2 more pieces of that chocolate (3 pts) and a low fat ice cream cone from McDonald's (4 pts) I still had 12 pts left at the end of the day... I felt pretty good about myself..

Day 5 - Another day stuck at home

So I'm very proud of myself for making it to day 5 WITHOUT CHEATING!!! I feel like that's a real accomplishment. I used to feel like well what if I died tomorrow and the last thing I ate I didn't enjoy. However now I have a different outlook, it's if I died tomorrow I know that I went out fighting for a longer life with my children. I'm not going to leave this world early because I wasn't trying to better my health. I feel so much better about myself, as thought I have a new outlook that isn't scary at all.

So I woke up to a blanket of snow covering our metro area and school was closed... that should go down in the record books, our school district hardly ever closes. So this starts another day at home with FOOD. I started the morning making the kids pancakes and sausage... I said I wonder how many pts are in these pancakes :) to my surprise, if I ate 12 of those little mini pancakes it was only 4 pts, I passed. Instead for myself I had 3 hard boiled eggs (6 pts) and 2 strips of bacon (2 pts) and a glass of water. I was pretty satisfied but also because I spread it out.. I ate the bacon first then about an hr later I ate the eggs.

For lunch, I ran to the store to get some food for sandwiches.. I must say eating healthy is quite expensive. I have to figure out a way to make this more friendly on a strict budget. So I had a turkey sandwich on wheat with 2% cheese (6 pts) with a small bag of pretzels (3 pts). For a dessert, I had a 100 calorie package of those little Hostess Cupcakes ( 3 pts) I wish I hadn't, they weren't very good.

I didn't really snack between lunch and dinner but I should have.. right before dinner I was starving so I grabbed a banana. Those are great for quick energy! So for dinner I made spaghetti, after all the ingredients it figured to be about 11 pts per serving. Not bad right, I served that with some steamed broccoli. Very filling with a high fiber pasta!  For dessert I had a bowl of pineapple... All in all, a pretty satisfying day!

Day's 3 and 4... dun dun dun... THE WEEKEND!!.. cont

Hello again.. this is becoming very liberating... I feel that I can share exactly what I did and well it might not have been the best choice I feel owning it gives me a chance to see first hand where I went wrong.

So this is Sunday.. I wake up and decide to cook a breakfast for my family. As a mother, I feel it's important to pass these eating habits along to my children. I felt growing up that I didn't always have the best choices presented to me but worst offender.. Eat everything that's on your plate. I don't want to instill that in my children because I don't want them to carry that in to their adult lives like I have. Like no matter if you're stuffed or not, you have to finish what's on your plate.

Ok so back to breakfast.. I made Oscar Mayer bacon.. I love Oscar Mayer.. not only because it's tasty but I could have 4 slices of bacon for 3 pts. I made 7 egg whites and 5 whole eggs that was a total of 12 pts for a whole pan of scrambled eggs. I can't do just plain egg whites, I've tried and just not good. Plus this was for my whole family so we all ate better. I then made toast 2 pts a slice with butter spray (0 pts). I served apple slices as well. So our breakfast plates were full but with healthier choices. I really felt like I did something good for my family.

For lunch, I had chicken and shrimp with broccoli. (4 pts)  1/2 cup of white rice (2 pts) and egg drop soup (1 pt).  I love that Chinese food is so filling and forgiving. :)  I snacked on a container of yogurt (2 pts) Yummy!

For dinner, I decided to try something new.. so I sauteed chicken and shrimp (4 pts) in sherry with a very small pat of butter (1 pt). I steamed green beans (0 pts) and made whole wheat rolls ( 2 pts a roll).

I finished the night with my husband eating 4 thin mints (4 pts) as a dessert.. I feel like these first few days have been pretty cool.. I'm excited to  get on the scale.. wow I just admitted that.. hahaha... well till tomorrow!

Day's 3 and 4... dun dun dun... THE WEEKEND!!

So this weekend wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Well add car troubles to it and well it was a great weekend! We had breakfast on Saturday morning from a local restaurant. I love the fact they had their nutrition information online, it makes making your decisions a LOT easier. So I ended up ordering a egg white omelet (7 pts) with feta cheese, turkey and spinach. I order a side of potatoes (3 pts) and dry wheat toast (2 pts per slice). I decided that if I was in control of my own butter it would be a lot better, plus I only ended up eating one piece of toast so I saved some points. I have learned with this new program from weight watchers it's more of a high protein low carb diet... it doesn't eliminate carbs so I'm good with that. So I had that for breakfast with some Crystal Light ( 0 pts).

So my husband is doing this with me.. he's so scared to use his points but I told him, used them or lose them! I think he wants to save them all for the end of the day. I'd rather have the majority of my points at the first part of the day so I can spend more time burning those off through out the day. So for lunch.. well it wasn't a traditional lunch.. I hadn't been to the store yet so had to eat with was available. I had... popcorn (3 pts).. I know I know..but I had a banana with it so made it better right ;)

I knew I had to get to the store!

So going to the grocery store, I didn't feel deprived. I felt empowered to make better choices. I must say, walking past the cookies and donut display at the front of the store was a little hard but I made it through with flying colors.  So I bought a lot of fruit, I love the fact that I can eat as much as I'd like. I bought some veggies to make a nice salad, some salmon, butter spray.. BEST THING EVER!!! Just enough of some staple items to get by. So here's a little confession.. by time I got home I was starving from the lack of a proper lunch. My daughter is a girl scout and all of her cookies just came in. So I broke open a box of thin mints and peanut butter patties. I only used 7 pts for the cookies I ate.. Gave me enough of a quick energy boost to cook dinner. I had pan seared salmon with sauteed mushrooms, a  big salad with light Italian and broccoli for dinner. 13 pts for the whole dinner. I finished the evening with more fruit. I felt I had a great Saturday.

Day 2

So this morning started off interesting. I LOOOOVE the chicken biscuits from Quicktrip... yes I know Quicktrip but they are really good. So this morning I go and walk right past it.. WOO HOO... then of course I'm tempted with the different flavors of cappuccino. I thought, ok I'll just get a regular coffee and find a low fat creamer... I need to write to someone at the Quicktrip head quarters... THEY DON'T HAVE LOW FAT CREAMER!!! So I ended up getting a small fat free french vanilla cappuccino.. not bad it was only 2 pts for a 16 oz cup. I had a banana before I left and that was my breakfast. So in total, my breakfast was 2 points.  I also grabbed some pineapple for a snack for later.

Lunch: Today I went to Mr. Goodcents and I ordered a Penny Club with Pepper Jack cheese. 12 pts for a half sandwich, that's including the cheese. My husband was worried that he wouldn't get full so I decided to go to the store so we could load up on fruit from the salad bar. He was so excited that fruit is 0 pts that he wanted to jump up and down in excitement. He then found chocolate to dip the strawberries in. I passed, I wanted to save my points but he decided to have it (2 pts).

So here is a fun part.. after we left work we had a couple of errands to run. One was going to pick up my daughters girl scout cookies... I BOUGHT GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!!! I only bought 4 boxes, this was back in November. So of course right after I left work I was hungry, then picking up the cookies only made it worse. So I rushed home and ate a banana (0 pts) and a tablespoon of peanut butter (3pts) that really helped settle those hunger pains.

We decided to go to Applebees for dinner ( I really need to cook at home) that was fun! I had to figure out how to pull up the nutritional information on my phone. Their under 550 menu only states the meals are under that calorie count but it does NOT give all the necessary information to figure out points. Then I figured they haven't updated their weight watchers menu to the new points system. I think it took about 15 mins to figure out what to have, even though at this point I had 35 points left to use, I still wanted to make a good decision.  I ordered the Grilled Dijon Chicken and Portobello (12 pts)... OH... MY... GOSH... it was wonderful! I also ordered a salad as a filler but I had them leave off the cheese and croutons but I kept the bacon, the amount they put on the salad did not have a point value. I had a small amount of Italian dressing, I don't know if it was low fat, I can't find it on Applebee's website so I just counted it as a regular Italian dressing and gave myself 2 pts.

After dinner my husband wanted something sweet, we stopped by McDonald's for a low-fat ice cream cone (4 ps). I believe these cones were only 2 pts with the last weight watcher program, but it was still very satisfying. I still have 17 pts at this point, so I pop 2 pieces of chocolate (2 pts) and I call it a night!

Another successful day on Weight Watchers!

The Fat Diva who thinks skinny chicks are evil, who's on her way to becoming a skinny evil chick! Day 1

Hello All!

I have been dieting for the better part of my life and I'm tired of it. I have decided to start this journey by exposing my fears, insecurities my goals, my set backs..  This will be my start to my new life. I've read these inspirational stories and I think to myself, I have the desire to do it... just the drive is lacking. So I decided that I will post a blog, I would be painfully honest about everything. So here it goes, I hope you enjoy and relate so maybe we can start this journey together.

So today I started my first full day of Weight Watchers on the new points plus plan. I have to retrain my brain for this new program because I was so used to the last one. I started weight watchers initially 6 years ago with family members. I did really well, I lost 40lbs but I hit a plateau and I feel to peer pressure and eventually I gave up. I gained those 40lbs back plus an additional 18lbs!!! I'm a the heaviest weight of MY LIFE! I weighted in at 351.2lbs at 5'10" (thanks Jill), I kept a brave face but I wanted to cry. Also because I knew that I had taken as many clothes off that I was legally allowed to in public.

I'm very excited to start this new program, I get a total of 55 daily points and 49 weekly points. I'm going to try to keep my weekly points under control, however, if I don't you will be the first to know about it.

So far today, I've had 15 points. Coffee with skim milk(0 pts)  and yogurt(2 pts)  for breakfast. For a snack,  I had a banana (0 pts).

Lunch - 2 chicken legs with the skin removed (2 pts) 1 thigh (3 pts) garlic spinach from Boston Market (4 pts) and green beans (2 pts). I plan to have a cup of jello (2 pts) shortly. I washed it down with a Diet Pepsi,(0 pts) my goal is to break free of diet soda's and incorporate more water... we shall see how this goes.

BTW, the garlic spinach was very tasty!

I ended up eating my jello cup in the afternoon, it was sooo good.. but I need to get the sugar free jello to save points. So I was siting at my desk enjoying it then I found myself licking the container... I chalked that up to first day on a new diet low. So I then quickly forgave my cave woman antics.

I want to tell you all about what happened when I got home. So I was sooo hungry, I need to work on building up my snacks to incorporate more fruits and veggies. So I have a bag of Hershey's Bliss chocolates left over from Christmas... I'm like well one piece can't be that bad. I pulled up my E-Tools and put the information in, and guess what... if I eat 6 pieces, which is one serving it was only 6 points!!! So I re-figured it to only have 3 pieces and it said 3 points! WOO HOO!!! I had 4.. hahahah I had enough points left for the day to enjoy a little bit of that indulge.

For dinner we decided on Chinese food... that way we could enjoy a larger quantity without the guilt.  I had about 1 1/12 cups of Chicken and Broccoli (5 pts), about 3/4 cup of steamed rice (4 pts)  and 1 cup of egg drop soup (1 pt). Egg drop soup is considered a power food so I felt great about that! I made a pitcher of sweet tea before I started this diet and I had some left over, so I figured one cup of tea (3 pts) wouldn't be bad because again I had the points to spend. After dinner I wanted something sweet so I shared pineapple (0 pts) with my husband as a dessert.


Did I tell you all that I recruited my husband as well?? He's such a great support, well when he's not bringing me cupcakes and kit kats because he was thinking about me. Don't get me wrong, it's a very sweet gesture, just can't continue since we're on this journey together. I showed him this blog and he was very shocked that I was so honest, he said, "that was a very brave thing you did and I'm so proud of you. Look at it like this, even though you posted your weight, know that is the last time you will see that number." For all the times he drives me crazy, I really do have a pretty awesome guy!
